Creating a Legacy

NancyandBillDoolittleWhen Bill and Nancy Doolitle wanted to ensure a lasting legacy, they included the CFMC in their estate plans. "Over the past 25 years, we have witnessed first hand the ever-adaptable grantmaking capability of the Community Foundation.  We feel very comfortable making legacy gifts to the Foundation knowing that it will be a good steward of our donations and will make grants that are relevant to the most pressing future needs. The long-term financial stability of nonprofits in Monterey County can be enhanced and secured with legacy donatons. We encourage other individuals to consider this method of support."

The Legacy Society

The Legacy Society is a group of visionary people who have named the Community Foundation for Monterey County in their estate plans or created an endowed fund. Your gift will have meaning and impact for years to come and the Legacy Society recognizes this special form of lasting philanthropy.

LegacySocietyFlyerInvolvement in the Legacy Society gives you the opportunity to enjoy the company of others who, like yourself, care about leaving a legacy to protect and strengthen this community. You will be invited to a special gathering for Legacy Society members, recieve a Legacy Society pin, and be recognized in our publications and at our annual Celebration of Philanthropy.

You may always choose to remain anonymous in your philanthropy with the Community Foundation. However, participation in the Legacy Society can be an inspirational experience, and may encourage others to look toward the future and how they too may have an enduring impact on the causes they care about.

Getting started is easy

  • Arrange for a gift through your estate or a deferred giving vehicle, or create an endowed fund through a current gift.
  • You or your professional advisor inform the Foundation staff of this provision.
  • We help establish your personal legacy of giving—and invite you to join with other caring community members who belong to the Legacy Society.

If you’ve already included the Community Foundation in your estate plans, we encourage you to let us know so that we may recognize your generosity.
